Letter from the Board

Dear readers of e-DARE,

just before the summer break we send you the next issue of e-DARE. During the last months we have been quite busy with project obligations in the “EDC for All” and “ENGAGE” projects, where hopefully in late summer first results will be published.

On behalf of DARE we also managed to wire a communication to the European Commission and the Council of Ministers regarding the development of the next EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy (2015-2019). Our comments were well received and DARE was subsequently invited by EuropeAid to participate in the Development Education and Awareness Raising conference in October in order to take stock and further contribute to the EU external aid agenda.

Furthermore, we are happy to announce that our Norwegian colleagues successfully handed in a proposal for DARE's annual conference 2015 which is going to happen from 29.09.2015 - 01.10.2015 in Oslo. If your organization did not participate in the E+ proposal, and you are interested in participation at the GA and the “DARE Network Meeting: Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education against extremism”, please let our board colleague Lillian Hjorth (Lillian[AT]mr-akademiet.no) know immediately, so we can include you as participant. Also if your organization would like to conduct a workshop or share experiences on the topic, please reply with a brief outline of the content. If there are many interesting suggestions, the DARE board will decide which workshops/presentations will be included in the program.

Last but not least DARE again is partnering up with the NECE conference in Thessaloniki, 22.-24. October 2015. Proposals for contributions and inputs are highly welcome!

Best regards on behalf of the Board

Georg Pirker
Secretary of the DARE Network

Increasingly rigid notions of belonging and identity are affecting the ability and the readiness for democratically solving conflicts on the international, European and national levels...
